It has been such an arduous task to recreate the nine realms due to researches and documentation.
From ruins and forests from South America to recreate the woods of Vanaheim, or the Spanish palaces for the majestic cities of the White Elfs from Alfheim, to the inspiration of typical Norwegian houses and buildings to recreate Midgar along with other bizarre Contemporary locations such as Tokyo or New York.
During the study of the Eddas, I made a research to route the recreation of these beings which would inhabit and threat Vanaheim, land of the Gods and all the people who lived there.
Since part of The Art of Valhalla is focused on the Land of Dragons, I have designed these fantastic animals with a powerful and hazardous appearance, from their mighty wings to their tough scales which protect them from the fierce attacks of Mjolnir. Among the different designs, you will be able to find from the first sketches to thefinal art concept of a number of beasts, inhabitants of Muspelheim's forge, as well as the violent giants of Jotunheim.
The design of the gods has been an organic and evolutive process where I have used elements of nature in order to create them from the beginning and giving them a darker and elemental tone.
These gods come from to the Scandinavian lands, and are closer to the elements of the places which they inhabit, from the powerfuld gods of the vanir nature, to the almighty gods like Thor, with elegant clothes.
In this journey, the gods will travel the lands fighting savage beasts across the nine realms. In this first presentation The Art of Valhalla vol. 1- The Awakening of the Dragons, they will have to face certain events which will decide the future of their existence.
